Trains & Train Stations - Loneliness in a Public Place
No matter how many people are present, a feeling of isolation still lingers in a public place. Since nobody knows each other, each person becomes just another face in the crowd by losing their identity. However, a contradiction exists: there is comfort in the place where nobody needs an identity. People still feel loneliness no matter where they are from. In truth, a public place serves as a way to reconsider onefs identity by in turn losing it.
It is easier to exist without identity; however, when looking at themselves objectively as they look at others, a question arises: who am I? This is the question I pose to others and myself through my artwork.
To express objectivity, I use blue as a filter to make the relationship between myself and situation, as well as, myself and my painting/memory the same. The human figures on the paintings do not have arms, because they do not need to communicate with others.
